4 Strings - Fly Away





Behind the name 4 Strings hides 2 musicians, Carlo Resoort and Jan de Vos. The two have known each other since 1986. In 1990 they became interested in dance music and from that moment on, they started producing their own music. All their spare time was spent in the studio. Throughout the next couple of years not only did their skills expand but also the amount of equipment in their studio. With the new tools and experience that they had, they could finally discover in which direction they wanted to go with their musical careers: Carlo decided to stay in the studio while Jan found his passion in mixing and started his DJ-ing career.


Jan met up with Piet Bervoets (Carlos, ROOS and Rank 1). Piet taught him the basics of mixing. After a couple of months, Jan joined a drive-in-show, where he played all kinds of music from R&B, Top 40 to Happy Hardcore. His skills were improving rapidly, and it was during this time period he noticed that his main interest was in dance music. After winning a first place prize in a DJ contest, he was offered his very own residency.


Carlo Resoort started with dance music in 1994, and soon after that he had his first release. After a couple of releases he had his first major breakthrough: "Carlos - the silmarilla", produced together with Piet Bervoets of Rank 1. Two years later he had another hit with "Turn it around". Around this same time, a new record company was born, "Spinnin Records". Shortly thereafter Carlo signed his first record deal and 4 Strings was born.


"Daytime" was the first track of 4 Strings, supported by Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules and Tiesto. The follow up was "Into the night", which got even more support. After a vocal edit called "Take me away" it became a huge hit around the globe, even now the track can be heard worldwide.


"Diving" and "Let it rain" were the follow ups, and soon the first album was released. After remixing "Summer Sun" they started to work on their second album "Turn it around". The album was named after the new single which is a remake from Carlo's former project "Alena". Carlo also started another project under his own name, with productions like "Remover", "O" class", "Musica", "Ayers Rock" and "Rise".


In 2005, 4 Strings released another hit "Sunrise", this track was the theme of the number one dance music festival in Poland also called Sunrise.


DJ 4 Strings is not just your average DJ, he is an entertainer. He is part of the new generation of DJ's today. Crowds are amazed by his refreshing and unique style of playing music. DJ 4 Strings is always prepared with unpredictable and quality tracks that both excite existing fans and bring new people to the scene. There is so much good music out there and 4 Strings do not want to limit themselves to one style. 4 Strings is also in the top 10 for Holland on "The DJ List".


4 Strings touring diary is incredibly hectic for 2006, with regular stops at major venues in the world. Such as touring the USA, Australia, Mexico, Poland, Asia and Holland just to name a few. 2006 is sure to be a massive year with the release of their brand new track "Hurricane" and also playing at the leading trance party of Holland "Trance Energy" in February. Summer 2006 will also see the first ever unique "4 Strings Live Tour" worldwide. Following the release of their new album this year.

Faithless- Insomnia




Faithless is a British electronica band. While they are mostly famous for their dance songs ("Insomnia" "God Is A DJ" and "We Come 1"), they have produced albums which offer a blend of styles.

Narcotic Thrust - Safe From Harm




Narcotic Thrust comprises of multi-talented DJ/Producer duo Andy Morris and Stuart Crichton. Although the name may appear to be a new one for many, the pair have been working both together and independently in the dance scene for over ten years.

It should be pointed out that Narcotic Thrust’s name comes not from references to intravenous drug abuse or even from substance enhanced sexual activity, but is simply an anagram of Stuart’s name!

Stuart began with some seminal slabs of progressive house on Limbo Records in the early 90’s under such guises as "Havana" as well as remixing the big names of the day such as The Grid and Rozalla. Then under the name Umboza he scored 2 top 15 hits for Positiva Records with “Cry India” and “Sunshine”. Stuart continued to write and produce with cream of the dance industry. He was recently responsible for the cheeky mash-up of Kylie and New Order used on the Brit Awards.

Native Australian Andy teamed up with Stuart in London on the back of successful DJ residencies at The Leisure Lounge and Club UK. Since then Andy has taken up a weekly spot on Kiss FM and toured the globe with his record box, while making records for labels such as Jive, Whoop! And Pitch Black (NYC) and compiling a successful "Parallels" mix album for Logic Records.

Andy’s dancefloor sensibilities and Stuart’s production skills led to Narcotic Thrust’s first release “Funky Acid Baby” aired on the now defunct Indochina Records. Some juicy remixes for Apollo 404, Real 2 Real and Amen UK followed.

After a hiatus of a few years the pair have now made a stunning comeback in the shape of the deep, funk ridden anthem "Safe From Harm". This killer track was signed immediately after Pete Tong witnessed at first hand the crowd reaction the track got from heavy rotation on the decks of a certain Mr. Tenaglia. The track features the vocal highlights of Zero 7 cohort Yvonne John–Lewis and a hook line co-penned by Rob Davis of "Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ fame". The resultant combination was enough to send the Miami conference into raptures and cause a frenzy amongst DJs trying to get hold of the vinyl. Its champions are as wide-ranging as Roger Sanchez and Paul Oakenfold.

"Safe From Harm" is now set to become a dancefloor classic and has been described as the coolest vocal house record since “Hideaway'

Lady Sovereign - Random




Lady Sovereign was born Louise Amanda Harman to Lynette Parsons and Aden Harman. She was raised in northwest London's Chalkhill Estate, a public housing project. She was influenced by her mother's Salt-N-Pepa albums and began writing her own raps at the age of 14.

She began uploading some of her songs and a picture to various music Web sites. Around this time Harman adopted the Lady Sovereign moniker, a reference to the large sovereign ring she wore.[2] After dropping out of school she landed a job acting in an educational film about the life of an up-and-coming MC who also dropped out of Preston Manor High School at 16.

She convinced the film's producers that she could record a soundtrack for the film, the demos for which landed in the hands of record producer Medasyn. He partnered Sovereign with Frost P, Zuz Rock, and Shystie for a male vs. female MC freestyle contest, titled "The Battle". It was released in 2003 on Casual Records. Every artist that was featured on "The Battle" has gone on to be signed by a record label.



"The Battle" began a string of singles that would push Lady Sovereign into the spotlight. While "A Little Bit of Shhh!," "Random," "9 to 5," were selling well, free Internet-only freestyles like "Tango" and "Cheeky" were becoming just as popular. On November 15th, 2005 Chocolate Industries released the Vertically Challenged EP, which collected most of her singles recorded to date.

Aside from her own records, 2005 saw Lady Sovereign appear as a guest or contributor on several projects. She began 2005 by appearing on the grime compilation Run the Road, both as a solo artist and with The Streets. When The Ordinary Boys released the single "Boys Will Be Boys", Lady Sovereign came back with a reply remix, featuring the music and chorus of the original, but with mostly her own vocals to the tune of "girls will be girls". In May 2006, she was featured on the Ordinary Boys single, "Nine2Five", a remixed version of her own "9 to 5", credited as "The Ordinary Boys vs Lady Sovereign." "Nine2Five" entered at #38 in the UK top 40 singles on downloads only, and jumped to #6 upon availability as a CD and 7" vinyl single during the week commencing May 22, 2006. This was her highest chart position to date.

Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now) - Bob Sinclar





Bob Sinclar is Le Friant's recording and production alter-ego but he is also known as Chris The French Kiss (possibly after Lil' Louis' house classic) and has recorded extensively as the Mighty Bop and Réminiscence Quartet. The name Bob Sinclar is taken from a character in the French movie, Le Magnifique. Sinclar is a flare-wearing creation, immersed in late 70s and early 80s disco culture. Le Friant grew up in the vibrant gay area of Paris, Le Marais, and became heavily involved in the club scene during the 80s. In 1993, Le Friant released a white label single, entitled "Mathar", a funky reworking of a 70s track by Dave Pike. Virgin Records in France picked up the track and re-released it as "Indian Vibes". The single was produced by the Young Disciples' Brendan Lynch and featured Paul Weller on guitar and Marco Nelson on bass. It appeared with five mixes and was a huge club hit. Le Friant indulged his interests in Latin jazz music on the vinyl compilations, Quelque Chose De Jazz (Acts 1 + 2) and Bossa Tres Jazz. As Chris The French Kiss, he collaborated with Cutee B on A Finest Fusion Of Black Tempo that featured guest rappers Fabe, East and Cut Killer.
In 1994, Yellow Productions released Conversations With The French Connection, a fusion of jazz with breakbeats with occasional French and English raps. During 1995 and 1996, Yellow Productions was at the forefront of a global interest in the innovative French fusions of house with Latin, disco and hip-hop grooves in the form of releases by Réminiscence Quartet, La Funk Mob, Kid Loco, DJ Cam, Louise Vertigo, EJM, and La Yellow. Sinclar's single "Gym Tonic' received a great deal of attention and radio airplay as well as becoming one of 1998"s Ibiza anthems. However, the record was held back from the commercial success it might have achieved for two reasons. Jane Fonda, the US actress and fitness guru began legal action for the illegal sampling of her voice (counting: "and step, two, three, four . . .") taken from one of her workout videos, and the track's co-producer, Thomas Bangalter (of Daft Punk) prevented the record's full release. Many bootlegs appeared before a mysterious record by Spacedust entitled "Gym And Tonic" appeared on the East West label in late 1998. A thinly disguised version of the Sinclar and Bangalter track, it reached the UK number 1 spot. Sinclar's debut, Paradise was given a worldwide re-release in 1999, after its uncleared samples were removed, but it was not a critical success. Champs-Elysées followed in 2000, released on the back of the European club success of the single "I Feel For You". The album was notable for its reverence to disco and a move away from music that was based totally on samples. The influence of disco veterans D-Train could be heard and indeed, James Williams was a guest vocalist on the album. Other reference points included electro and, of course early house music.

Eric Prydz - Call on Me






Eric Prydz joined forces with Data Recordings to bring his hotly-tipped summer anthem ‘Call On Me.’ Commandeering a vocal from age-ripened rocker Steve Winwood’s ‘Valerie’, the first time Winwood has given clearance for one of his tracks to be used, Swedish-born Prydz loops it into what promises to be the biggest funked-up house monster of the season. Starting life as an mp3 in the hands of only a select few DJs ‘Call On Me’ has spread like wildfire, surfing label bidding-wars and dodging a spate of bootleg rip-offs along the way, to eventually land in the hands of Mr Winwood himself who liked the track so much he re-sang the vocals. Prydz began making music at the tender age of 9, and was so fanatical even at this early stage, that a lack of equipment was simply a minor obstacle in his quest for stardom. He developed a habit of breaking and entering in order to “borrow” his school’s keyboards: a habit that soon landed him in a Swedish reform school. But this set back merely strengthened his resolve and, buoyed by encouragement from influential friends such as Steve Angello, Prydz was soon producing tracks that found their way into the record boxes of some of the worlds most high profile DJs.


Influenced by the production quality of the ‘first generation’ of Stockholm talent, such as Håkan Lidbo and Adam Beyer, the Prydz sound is a merging of his love for Depeche Mode, early-electronica and a catchy 80’s melody with the stimulus of artists such as Alexender Kowalski and Underground Resistance. Working from his (literally) underground studio in the heart of Stockholm, Prydz creates hard-hitting tunes, with a firm foundation in funk but what sets him apart from the crowd is his talent for hooks and melodies.


After the success of an initial release on EMI, Eric moved to the label’s flagship dance imprint Credence and released the hugely successful “EP1”. By the time “EP3” came around, Eric had developed into one of the hottest names in house music. Word of his production skills soon spread, making him one of the most sought-after remixers on the scene. His work for the likes of Junior, Positiva and Ministry of Sound found favour with DJ’s including Seb Fontaine, Judge Jules and Pete Tong and his remix of “Miracles” even added The Pet Shop Boys to his long list of admirers.
